About Prescribed Burning Services
What is possibly the most unique aspect of our brokerage is offering a prescribed burning service to landowners. As land stewards we understand the importance that fire has in the southern landscape. Not only do we understand the importance of fire, but we also comprehend the dying nature of prescribed fire and the need to promote burning more than ever. We are equipped to burn the smallest acreage tracts to the largest. We’ve had the privilege to oversee burning operations on land holdings as small as ten acres and as large as 20,000 acres. Our typical burn season would be considered January through May but depending on objectives flexibility is a must to achieve results if needed outside this timeframe. Prescribed fire is an art, it’s a tool that if utilized properly can achieve great results. That’s why we take our time to do it right, we plan, we prepare, we execute. The process to contract our burning services is quite simple. We will assess the property, analyze the topography, habitat, amount of fuel, and utilize the management objective to prepare a plan. The preparation will look at all variables that may affect the outcome such as proper timing, weather conditions, acreage, objective, and most importantly firebreaks. Utilization of natural firebreaks is always an advantage; however, they may not always be ideal. Having the infrastructure of firebreaks adds to property value and accessibility. If firebreaks are not already established, we will oversee the process to install and maintain them for future use. Once we have accomplished the preplanning we will set a tentative burn date. We will try to execute burns as close to the desired date as possible, however the burn day is solely dependent on optimum weather conditions and at the discretion of the Georgia Forestry Commission.
